Day 1 / 7
Cape Sounion
1
Day 1

AthensCape Sounion

Set off your journey where the sea meets folklore. After a little espresso in Athens' dark Plaka alleys, sail along the Attica coast and see the cliffs blushed gold in the afternoon light. Anchor under the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion, where the sea deity appears to still rule the waves. Swim in the reflection of the temple at nightfall; then, at a breezy taverna, feast on grilled lavraki, sea bass; the columns above radiate like old sentinels.

Things to do

Sundowner under the Temple of Poseidon

Swim off the boat in the temple bay

Photograph cliffs glowing in late light

Grilled lavraki at the headland taverna

Briefing & provisioning at Alimos before cast-off

Mooring tip

Anchor in Sounion Bay (5–8 m sand, fair holding) on the west side of the headland. Free, but exposed to N–NE Meltemi — if forecast shows strong north winds, push on to Lavrion Marina (lazy lines, 6 nm north).

Kea
2
Day 2

Cape SounionKea (Vurkari)

Allow the dawn light to lead you north to Kea, the best-kept secret in the Cyclades. Drop anchor at Vourkari's horseshoe bay, where elegant yachts bob next to fishermen boats. Trekking uphill to Ioulida, a town with terracotta roofs and secret archways, search for the mysterious stone lion cut 2,500 years ago. Join residents at a riverside mezedopoleio by dusk for fried smelts, or stories of shipwrecks buried in the cobalt depths.

Things to do

Drive or taxi up to Ioulida hilltop village

Hike to the Lion of Kea (2,500 years old)

Snorkel the SS Burdigala wreck offshore

Mezedopoleio dinner of fried smelts

Wine-tasting at a Vourkari quayside bar

Mooring tip

Stern-to on the Vourkari quay (free, lazy lines limited — bring a stern anchor). Bay is well sheltered from N Meltemi but a SE swell sneaks in; in S winds shift to Otzias cove (3 nm north, sand, 6 m).

Syros
3
Day 3

Cape SounionSyros (Ermoupoli or Finikas)

Sail into the pulsing heart of Ermoupoli, a symphony of Venetian palaces and neoclassical magnificence. In the marble-paved Vaporia area, where captains' homes point angrily toward the sea, lose yourself. Likes silence? Slink into Finikas Bay, a protected port surrounded with tamarisk tree line. Climb Ano Syros's steep stairs to a cliffside church, then savor the day with a soumada (almond drink) while the twin characters of the island—Catholic and Orthodox—blend into the evening.

Things to do

Wander the Vaporia neoclassical waterfront

Climb Ano Syros stairs at sunset

Soumada (almond drink) on Miaouli Square

Cathedral hop — Catholic + Orthodox

Dinner of San Michali cheese pie

Mooring tip

Stern-to on Ermoupoli main quay — large, well-organised, holds a full Meltemi (best refuge in the Cyclades). For quieter night, head to Finikas Bay (5 nm SW, sand, 6 m, tamarisk-shaded quay). Both free; book ahead in August by VHF.

Serifos
4
Day 4

SyrosSerifos (Livadi)

Trade Syros's grace is matched by Serifos's wild soul. Enter water so pure you will count the pebbles as Livadi's golden beach opens out. Trekking the zigzag road to Chora, a whitewashed colony of cube homes anchored to a volcanic mountain. While granny wants you try her homemade tsipouro, in a family-run kafeneio savor a bowl of revithada, the slow-cooked chickpea anthem of the island. Greece without filters is what this is.

Things to do

Hike the donkey path to Chora

Tsipouro tasting at a family kafeneio

Bowl of revithada (slow-cooked chickpea stew)

Swim Psili Ammos turquoise-shallows

Sunset photo from Chora's windmill

Mooring tip

Stern-to on Livadi quay (free, lazy lines on outer pontoon). Bay holds the Meltemi well but afternoon swell rolls in — go bow-to with a stern anchor for comfort. No marina, no fuel — top up before leaving Syros.

Hydra
5
Day 5

SerifosHydra

Let the Aegean sweep you to Hydra, where time moves to the clang of harbor bells and donkeys rule over vehicles. Under the sunset-pink mansions of Hydra Town, there meander cobblestone paths polished by generations of sailor boots. At Spilia Beach Bar, where the Aperol spritzes flow and the jet set mingles with salted sea dogs, claim a rocky seat. Follow the smell of jasmine to a secret kantina for octopus so delicate it melts like nightfall.

Things to do

Sundowner at Spilia rock-cut bar

Climb the path to Profitis Ilias monastery

Photograph the donkey-train quay at dawn

Water-taxi to Kamini pebbled cove

Slow-cooked octopus in a back-alley taverna

Mooring tip

Stern-to on the main quay (free). Arrive before 15:00 in July–August or you raft 3–4 deep. No anchoring inside the harbour — Mandraki cove (1 nm east) is the backup. Long passage day — leave Serifos at first light to beat the Meltemi build-up.

Poros
6
Day 6

HydraPoros

Sail west to Poros, a pine-scented island split along a canal dotted with lemon groves. Anchor under the shadow of the clock tower and plunge directly into the emerald hug of Love Bay. By afternoon, either ascend to the ruins of the Temple of Poseidon or lose the throngs at Russian Bay—a crescent of stones and turquoise silence—yes, him once more. Join the hubbub along the waterfront for saganaki cheese flambéed tableside at evening, then dance barefoot to rembetika music as the harbor lights sparkle like fallen stars.

Things to do

Anchor & swim at Love Bay

Hike up to the Clocktower for harbour views

Cross to Galatas for lemon-grove gelato

Snorkel the wrecks off Vagionia Bay

Saganaki dinner on the town quay

Mooring tip

Stern-to on the main town quay (south side, free). Tight in summer — drop crew, then loop the harbour and pick a slot. Holding good in 4–6 m sand. Russian Bay (2 nm west) is the no-quay anchorage backup.

Athens
7
Day 7

PorosAthens

Dolphins rushing your bow as Athens's skyline rises in the distance sail one last sunrise across the Saronic Gulf. If time permits, have a last plunge in Aegina's secret coves; else, linger over a lazy lunch of pasta salata topped with anchovy-studded lemon gardens. Already planning your exit, back in Piraeus celebrate your odyssey with ouzo and honey-drenched baklava; the Aegean never really lets you go

Things to do

Last swim at Moni Island anchorage

Photograph the Athens skyline on approach

Refuel at Alimos before berthing

Final crew lunch on board at the marina

Hand-back briefing & marina departure

Mooring tip

Return to base by 18:00 Friday for the technical hand-back; sleep aboard, disembark Saturday by 09:00. Alimos is direct shuttle to Athens International Airport (~50 min); Lavrion is closer if you started there.
