Replace Athens' bustle with Poros's peacefulness flavored with lemon. Past the coast of Peloponnese, the candy-striped clocktower leads you into a harbor bustling with bougainvillea-draped tavernas. Explore the green waters of Dive into Love Bay then feast on fiery saganaki as the sunset paints the sky the color of ripe peaches.

Mooring tip

Stern-to on Poros main town quay (south side, free). Tight in summer — drop crew, then loop the harbour and pick a slot. Holding good in 4–6 m sand. Russian Bay (2 nm west) is the no-quay anchorage backup.

PorosSpetses

Track the horizon toward Spetses, where horse carriages gallop past palaces of big ship captains. Anchor in Dapia Harbor then ride through pine trees to secret coves like Zogeria, where pebbles have been polished to gems by the sea. Under fairy lights in the Old Harbour, sip mastiha cocktails late at night while yacht crews trade stories of rogue waves and mermaids.

SpetsesKiparissi

Sail south to Kiparissi, a Peloponnese secret enclave. Drop anchor in a bay so quiet you will hear fish jumping. Hike to the deserted stone settlement of Vathy, wild goats your only friends, or paddle to a beach only accessible by sea. Lunch? Dinner Red mullet fresh caught barbounia cooked over driftwood presented on a plastic tablecloth, luxury redefined.

Drop anchor in 6–8 m sand off the village quay (small, fishing boats first). Bay is enclosed by mountains — Meltemi shelter is excellent, no swell concerns. Limited provisioning ashore; stock up before leaving Spetses.

KiparissiMonemvasia

Approach Monemvasia before dawn; its mediaeval fortitude rises from the sea like a stone ghost. Wander the cobblestone lanes of the Lower Town car-free, where worn-out doors conceal Byzantine churches and handicapped workshops. See views of Crete from the Upper Town; then, toast with a glass of monemvasios wine, whose taste is as profound as the history of the island.

Anchor in the small bay just north of the causeway (sand 6 m, fair holding). Limited stern-to slots on the new harbour quay east of the rock. Bay open to N — watch a meltemi forecast, otherwise dead-flat shelter.

Gerakas

Day 5

MonemvasiaGerakas

From coast westward to Gerakas, a crescent of golden beach encircled by olive trees. Swim in water so pure it is undetectable; then, climb to the old Zarax cliffside ruins where Spartan defiance still lingers in the breeze. Join fisherman fixing nets on the dock at nightfall; their laughing blends with the ouzo glass clink.

Mooring tip

Anchor in 4–6 m sand inside the inlet (best holding on the south shore). Quay limited to 2–3 yachts. Inlet is the most enclosed shelter on the south Peloponnese — total Meltemi protection, no swell.

Leonidio

Day 6

GerakasLeonidio

Sail into Leonidio, where pure red cliffs hug a valley of citrus trees. Clutching a precipice like a daredevil, kayak the wild Lousios River canyon or climb to the Monastery of Elonis. By dusk, eat slow-cooked goat kleftiko in a taverna courtyard while the air smells strongly of orange flowers thickening.

LeonidioSampatiki

Today's prize is The sleepiness of Sampatiki is charming. Anchor at a bay under collapsing watchtowers, then slink through sardine schools of silver. Lunch in a beach shack on pitaroudia, or chickpea fritters, with a transistor radio crackling with rebetika sounds. Turn off, relax, and let the cicadas to lull you into a slumber.

Go north to the most charming port in Greece, Nafplio. Under the Palamidi Fortress, stroll the promenade beneath its honey-gold evening walls. Search the alleys of the Old Town for handcrafted komboloi (worry beads), then have dinner at a candlelit café on amygdalota (almond pastries) and Venetian mystery stories.

Dhokos

Day 9

NafplioDhokos

Trip to Dhokos, a deserted island where time stops still. Snorkel above historic shipwreks, their amphorae coated with sea life, or beachcomb for sea glass along uninhabited coastlines. Under the sky, have a picnic including crusty bread, feta, and figs—the most basic, pure feast from the Aegean.

Day 10

DhokosHydra

On Hydra, return to civilization where artists' studios dot the stone pathways and donkeys rule over vehicles. Swim at Kamini's pebble beach, then sip Aperol spritz from Spilia—a bar cut out from a cliff. Join a jam at a pirate taverna where guitars and Greek accents mix as evening falls.

Mooring tip

Stern-to on the main quay (free). Arrive before 15:00 in July–August or you raft 3–4 deep. No anchoring inside the harbour — Mandraki cove (1 nm east) is the backup. From Dhokos, easy short morning sail.

Day 11

HydraPalaia Epidavros

Sail to Palaia Epidavros, where modern tranquilly meets ancient drama. Under the 2,400-year-old theater, float in the cove and the acoustics still perfect. Later, paddleboards across calm waves as the sun sets behind the Argolic mountains, lavender and gold painting the sky.

Aegina

Day 12

Palaia EpidavrosAegina

See Aegina with the heart of a pilgrim. Visit the pistachio farms, taste nut-laced treats, then meander among the haunting remains of Kolona Temple. Finish with a sunset swim in Marathonas, the water heated as a bath, and a last feast of psarosoupa (fish soup) under strings of taverna lights.

Day 13

AeginaAthens

Sail back to Athens and dolphins racing your wake. Stop at Agistri's Skala Beach for one last dip; its pine-shaded coast is a parting hug. As the Acropolis bids farewell, dock in Piraeus; celebrate your voyage with ouzo and salted tears—already lonely for the sea.

Get off the boat with sand-covered flip-flops, a journal full of memories, and a promise to come back. You eat honey-dipped yogurt for breakfast, and the taste of the Aegean stays on your lips. The islands say in a low voice, "You're just a sailor in between trips now."
