Day-by-day journey

Named anchorages, restaurants, and route notes for every leg of the week — written by sailors who've actually run this passage.

Day 1 / 7
Vathi
1
Day 1

ParosSifnos (Vathi Port)

Riding into Vathi's fjord-like bay—a secret nook surrounded by olive orchards and salt flats— Swap Paros's buzz for Sifnos's rural character. Wander the peaceful town where artists spin clay into eternal masterpieces, then swim into emerald seas off Vathi Beach. Recipe unaltered for centuries, feast on revithada (slow-cooked chickpea stew) at a family taverna at evening.

Things to do

Long swim across Vathi inner bay

Pottery-studio visit (Sifnos clay)

Lunch revithada at a family taverna

Walk inland to Apollonia ridge

Sunset paddle round the small cape

Mooring tip

Drop hook in Vathi (5–8 m sand, very good holding) or alongside the small inner quay (limited space). Best Meltemi shelter on Sifnos. Watch chartered cats raft up after 17:00.

Kamares
2
Day 2

Sifnos (Vathi)Kamares Harbor

Coast north to the energetic port of Kamares, Sifinos. Walk the cliffside path to the Chrysopigi Monastery; the stone arches there protruding into the sea like a divine daredevil. Reaching back into town, savor mastelo—lamb roasted in clay pots with red wine and dill—at a hillside restaurant. Swim in Platis Gialos at twilight to cap the day; the sand still is warm underfoot.

Things to do

Walk the Chrysopigi monastery cape

Lunch on mastelo at Artemonas

Swim Platis Gialos golden bay

Snorkel the rocky shore north of Kamares

Sunset stroll across Apollonia ridge

Mooring tip

Anchor west side of Kamares Bay (5–8 m sand, decent holding) or stern-to on the small ferry quay if free. Bay fills by noon in August. Open to W swell when wind backs.

Syros
3
Day 3

SifnosSyros (Ermoupoli or Finikas)

Go to Syros, where Greek roughness meets Venetian elegance. Dock at Ermoupoli's neoclassical harbor, pastel homes rising toward the clocktower of Miaouli Square. Lost in Ano Syros's maze of blue doors and cobblestones, then bite rosewater loukoumi from a 150-year-old store. Demand peace? Anchor at Finikas' secluded bay and let the Meltemi winds send you to sleep.

Things to do

Wander marble-paved Ermoupoli waterfront

Climb Ano Syros for sunset over Tinos

Buy rosewater loukoumi at the old confectionary

Lunch at Vaporia neighbourhood seafront

Late ouzo in a rembetiko taverna

Mooring tip

Stern-to on Ermoupoli main quay (free, plenty of length, secure even in 30 kn Meltemi). Finikas south-coast anchor option (5–7 m sand) for quieter night. Foulkrod side keep clear of ferries.

Tinos
4
Day 4

SyrosTinos

Tinos calls with spiritual mystery and marble mastery. Pilgrims crawl to the Panagia Evangelistria, but you will search Pyrgos village for sculptors chiseling marvels. Lunch on artichokes à la polita in a courtyard shaded by bougainvillea, then tour Exomvourgo's crusader remains. Finish with a sunset at Kolymbithra Beach, waves shining the sand to a golden gloss.

Things to do

Visit Panagia Evangelistria pilgrim church

Drive up to Pyrgos marble-sculptor village

Lunch on artichokes à la polita

Explore Exomvourgo crusader ruins

Sunset at Kolymbithra long beach

Mooring tip

Stern-to inside Tinos main port (lazy lines, ferries close — keep clear). Open to N gusts. Anchor option: Panormos on the north coast (sand 5–8 m) or duck to Mykonos lee.

Mykonos
5
Day 5

TinosMykonos

For Mykonos' electric pulse, trade custom. Dock in Mykonos Town, where designer stores and whitewashed alleyways hum with DJ rhythms. From Agios Sostis' isolated tranquility to Paradise's champagne showers, beach-hop Eat lobster pasta in Little Venice, the sea licking your toes, then dance under windmills until the stars blend into morning.

Things to do

Beach-hop Paradise & Super Paradise

Sundowner cocktail at Little Venice

Photograph the windmills at twilight

Day-trip ferry to Delos archaeological site

Dinner of lobster spaghetti in Chora

Mooring tip

Tourlos (New Marina) only — book weeks ahead in season, lazy lines, full marina services, fee. Old port exposed to Meltemi. No safe anchorage on Mykonos in N winds.

Paros
6
Day 6

MykonosParos

Go back to Paros, where urban flare blends with cycladic appeal. For octopus souvlaki and people-watching, explore Naoussa's trendy waterfront; for a last dip, head to Kolymbithres' moonlike coves. Toast your journey with Assyrtiko wine in Parikia's gloomy alleyways, the Portara temple shining over the strait on Naxos.

Things to do

Stroll Naoussa's old fishing harbour

Last swim at Kolymbithres rock pools

Goodbye seafood saganaki on the quay

Sundowner overlooking the Antiparos sound

Late ouzo in Parikia old-town lanes

Mooring tip

Naoussa small harbour fills early — stern-to outer mole or anchor in the bay (5–7 m sand). Parikia main port is the alternative if Naoussa is full or wind is hard from N.

Paros
7
Day 7

Plan to pack and sweep cabins and technical hand-over with company. Hand-back morning at the Paros base — fuel, water, technical check, paperwork. No sailing planned.
