Sail south to Kiparissi, a Peloponnese secret enclave. Drop anchor in a bay so quiet you will hear fish jumping. Hike to the deserted stone settlement of Vathy, wild goats your only friends, or paddle to a beach only accessible by sea. Lunch? Dinner Red mullet fresh caught barbounia cooked over driftwood presented on a plastic tablecloth, luxury redefined.

Approach Monemvasia before dawn; its mediaeval fortitude rises from the sea like a stone ghost. Wander the cobblestone lanes of the Lower Town car-free, where worn-out doors conceal Byzantine churches and handicapped workshops. See views of Crete from the Upper Town; then, toast with a glass of monemvasios wine, whose taste is as profound as the history of the island.

Monemvasia → Gerakas

From coast westward to Gerakas, a crescent of golden beach encircled by olive trees. Swim in water so pure it is undetectable; then, climb to the old Zarax cliffside ruins where Spartan defiance still lingers in the breeze. Join fisherman fixing nets on the dock at nightfall; their laughing blends with the ouzo glass clink.

Gerakas → Leonidio

Sail into Leonidio, where pure red cliffs hug a valley of citrus trees. Clutching a precipice like a daredevil, kayak the wild Lousios River canyon or climb to the Monastery of Elonis. By dusk, eat slow-cooked goat kleftiko in a taverna courtyard while the air smells strongly of orange flowers thickening.

Today's prize is The sleepiness of Sampatiki is charming. Anchor at a bay under collapsing watchtowers, then slink through sardine schools of silver. Lunch in a beach shack on pitaroudia, or chickpea fritters, with a transistor radio crackling with rebetika sounds. Turn off, relax, and let the cicadas to lull you into a slumber.

Search the alleys of the Old Town for handcrafted komboloi (worry beads), then have dinner at a candlelit café on amygdalota (almond pastries) and Venetian mystery stories.

Trip to Dhokos, a deserted island where time stops still. Snorkel above historic shipwreks, their amphorae coated with sea life, or beachcomb for sea glass along uninhabited coastlines. Under the sky, have a picnic including crusty bread, feta, and figs—the most basic, pure feast from the Aegean.

On Hydra, return to civilization where artists' studios dot the stone pathways and donkeys rule over vehicles. Swim at Kamini's pebble beach, then sip Aperol spritz from Spilia—a bar cut out from a cliff. Join a jam at a pirate taverna where guitars and Greek accents mix as evening falls.

Hydra → Palaia Epidavros

Sail to Palaia Epidavros, where modern tranquilly meets ancient drama. Under the 2,400-year-old theater, float in the cove and the acoustics still perfect. Later, paddleboards across calm waves as the sun sets behind the Argolic mountains, lavender and gold painting the sky.

Palaia Epidavros → Aegina

See Aegina with the heart of a pilgrim. Visit the pistachio farms, taste nut-laced treats, then meander among the haunting remains of Kolona Temple. Finish with a sunset swim in Marathonas, the water heated as a bath, and a last feast of psarosoupa (fish soup) under strings of taverna lights.

Sail back to Athens and dolphins racing your wake. Stop at Agistri's Skala Beach for one last dip; its pine-shaded coast is a parting hug. As the Acropolis bids farewell, dock in Piraeus; celebrate your voyage with ouzo and salted tears—already lonely for the sea.
